Advanced Level
Message of the Head of Commerce Section (Mr.K.A. Nimalasiri)

The commerce section of our school has a very long and proud history as one of the pioneer schools that started Commerce as a subject for G.C.E. Advanced Level. During the last 48 years, thousands of students who studied Commerce have obtained higher education, vocational education and various employment opportunities. It has been proved that our school is in a distinguished competency level by enabling thousands of students to enter Universities. The reason for this success is the dedication of the students, their talents as well as the correct and proper guidance of the teachers.
Bandaranayake College Gampaha has obtained a prominent rank among the leading prestigious schools in the country not only by the number of students but also by the excellent results achieved at the G.C.E A/L and O/L examinations, the sports and extra-curricular activities that gained distinguished places in various competitions. The present exemplary administration and the management process in the school can be considered as a role model to other schools too. We offer that tribute, with great respect to the present Principal of the school, Rev. Labuthale Sudassana Thero.
As a product of Bandaranayake College and as the Head of Commerce Section, I wish to express my happiness on the development of the school and extend my good wishes for the future of the school.
Message of the Head of Science Section (Mr.D.M.S. Dassanayake)

It gives me an immense pleasure to pen a few words on behalf of the science section of Bandaranayake College.
The science section has grown from strength to strength in the sphere of college education. It is a great delight to receive the expertise knowledge of a professional academic staff comprising of nearly 30 members, who devote their strength for the betterment and upgrading the academic qualifications of the students. The assistance given by the minor staff for the sound functioning of the institution is appreciative.
It is encouraging to see that about six hundred G.C.E. Advanced Level students receive satisfactory education and competence through the science subjects, both in biological and physical streams. To enhance their academic and extra-curricular activities the fully equipped laboratories and the rich library are a great asset. They have a very satisfactory impact on the quality of education and the students are benefited immensely.
The science society plays a noteworthy role undoubtedly, paving the way for the students to develop and foster their skills and talents. I whole heartedly wish the science society of Bandaranayake College all success in all their endeavors to promote continuous improvement in academic and co-curricular activities.
Message of the Head of Arts Section (Mrs.K.A.D.R. Amarasingha)

The personal deterioration of the majority of the youth in present day society has been caused by being lethargic, not understanding the value of the life. At a time of such uncertainty, the education itself has to direct the way we should follow. The youth doesn’t know who he is? What his needs are? And what his duties are? He will be stranded in this fast changing world. As a solution, the attention should be paid to the methods of teaching and the techniques of teaching.
It is our duty as teachers to give an education to students to develop the qualities to work as a team to face challenges, to accept defeat to find answers for questions, to develop self-confidence, to work cheerfully and to be friendly. It is not sufficient to make students keep a heavy load of knowledge by heart and memorize them. Our elite will be able to settle problems by looking at them in a humane angle, with self-confidence. The school must present the society such a group of students. In short they must be able to enjoy their human rights in a beneficial way. Then they will understand their values and strength no doubt and will develop a personality to face any obstacle.
The sons In the Arts Section have very sensitive hearts. Their spiritual values are nourished by literature. The base to develop and decorate their lives is literature.
Here I present my great honor to and respect to the Ven. Principal Thero, for his great service and for making our school an oasis to obtain the benefits of the future prospects.
