Western Cadet Band wins the All Island Championship 2011

The NCC Conducted Western Band Annual Assessment Camp from 17.09.2011 to 23.09.2011 at the NCC Training Centre, Rantembe. 34 Boys Western Band Platoons and 09 Girls Western Band Platoons participated in the camp. Cadets who have been enrolled to the band platoons also follow the usual cadet syllabus and in addition, they master western music under the supervision of Band Training Officer of the Corps.
The Passing Out Parade of the Camp was held under the patronage of Major General GBW Jayasundara RWP RSP Director, National Cadet Corps on 22.09.2011 at the Training Centre. Bandaranayake College became the champions in boys' category and Mahamaya Girls College in girls' category.
The Commandant, Senior Officers of the Corps, Principals, Teachers and large number of parents attended the function.
English Day 2011 – The Zeal of the Youngsters of Bandaranayake College
The English Day of Bandaranayake College was held on 3rd of June 2011 in the college main hall. Invited chief guests for this glorious occasion were Dr. Lesley Dick (ELT Project Manager of British Council), Mr. Gamini Pandithasekara (Zonal Director of English) and Mr. Pushpa Gunathilake (Co-ordinator - RESC).
Miss. Sriyani Yapa, the head of English Unit in the school and the other experienced English teachers made the whole programme a success with their courage and determination.
Just as usual, the programme was done well by the sons of Mother Bandaranayake. Day was filled with dramas, group songs, stories and so many other items. All those talents of Nayakans were praised by the chief guests.
Swara Samadhi by 94 Group

To support the fund of 94th Group of Bandaranayake College, "Swara Samadhi" - An Aesthetic Orientation of Soft Music will be held on 3rd April @ 3.30p.m and 6.30p.m in the College Auditorium.

Blood Donation Camp by Prefects
The blood donation camp organized by the Prefect board of Bandaranayke College was successfully held on 15 March 2011 from 9.00 am to 1.00 pm in the college main hall to commemorate "2600th Anniversary of the Enlightenment of Lord Buddha". Board of Prefects achieved more than expected amount of blood. The medical staff of General Hospital of Gampaha, Students and old boys of our school, Teachers, Parents participated to this event to make it a success.
Sportsmeet ’11 concluded successfully

Sportsmeet 2011, held on 11th February was concluded successfully. The occasion was graced by Hon. Minister Mr. Pandu Bandaranayake. Mayor of Gampaha Eranga Senanayake and Mr. Ajith Mannapperuma were present in the event.
Performances by Western Cadet Band and Eastern Cadet Band were able to delight the audience. This year’s champions were the Gamunu House. Thissa House, Parakrama House and Vijaya House were 2nd, 3rd and 4th respectively.
Bandaranayake College, Media Unit and Computer Society were able to webcast whole event live through the internet for the 2nd time and it was very much helpful for the old boys who are abroad. There were more than 4900 views.

Swimming Pool was declared open by President Mahinda Rajapakse
The swimming pool of Bandaranayake College Gampaha which was newly built within a short period of ten months, was declared open by his excellency the president Mahinda Rajapakse on 07th October. All the construction work of the pool has been done with the support of funds donated by students, Old Boys Association and the principal thero.
The bhikkhus, Mr. Susil Premjayanth, Mr. Basil Rajapakshe including other ministers, honoured guests, teachers, parents, old boys and students were present in this event.
Bandaranayake College wins a medal in 7th Annual Gampaha District Swimming Meet

7th Annual Gampaha District Swimming Meet was successfully held on 17th & 18th of July 2010 at the Regent International College Swimming Pool. The Swimming Meet was sanctioned by Sri Lanka Aquatic Sports Union and was well attended by over 600 participants representing 43 Schools & 9 Swimming Clubs in Gampaha District.
The Chief Guest at this Swimming Meet was the OIC Roshan Rajapaksha of Weliveriya Police Station. Mr. Anura Gunasekara the Managing Director and Mr. Nissanka Marapana the Principal of Regent International College were also among the guests presented at this meet. The meet was sponsored by Makeens Book Shop, Nations Trust Bank, Sri Lanka Insurance Corporation, Ceylon Cold Stores, Central Finance company, Peoples Bank & Metropolitan Agencies.
Sulakkhana Dissanayake of Bandaranayake College became the champion in Under 19 Boys Category overthrowing other best schools in the district. Dineth Jayakody of Negombo Maris Stella College was declared as the Best Swimmer.
The Gampaha District swimming meet attracted many young swimmers from the area and over the years the event has become a much looked forward to event by sports enthusiasts in the district.
Bandaranayake College wins Business Cup 2010

The Inter School Business Cup (ISBC) 2010 organized by the Department of Marketing Management, University of Kelaniya, was successfully held on July 12 at the University premises. Prof. Sarath Amunugama, Vice Chancellor, University of Kelaniya graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The winner of this year's quiz was the team represented by Bandaranayake College, Gampaha.
They beat all the Colombo and leading schools in the country and had a tough fight in the final round to take the prestigious "Business Cup" to their school. The first runner up was Asoka College Colombo and the 2nd runner up was Carey College Colombo. Trophies and certificates to each participant of the winners, 1st and 2nd runners up and trophies for 4th and 5th places were given.
In addition, certificates were awarded to all the schools who participated at the event. In addition, all the participating schools were given a gift pack with the sponsorship of Unilever Ceylon Ltd. The competition was held with four rounds, first three rounds mainly focused on the students' knowledge about the business environment at a table quiz and the final round focused on creativity and team working capabilities of the students.
The event was successfully held with the participation of more than 50 leading schools including 15 Tamil schools island wide. The whole event was carried out by the Final Year students of the Department of Marketing with the facilitation of Mr. Ajith Mendis, Head, Department of Marketing Management and Mr. Maxwell Ranasinghe, Visiting Lecturer, University of Kelaniya.
Media coverage was provided by Sunday Times, Derana TV and FM Derana while leading companies such as Keells Food Products Limited, Unilever and Virtusa provided main sponsorships. Representatives of some of the sponsoring companies also graced the occasion.
The Department of Marketing Management, University of Kelaniya, hopes to continue this event annually with a view of giving its undergraduates a hands on experience on planning and implementing a major project under the subject "Entrepreneurial Skills for Marketers". Their main objective is to make this event the paramount business quiz competition in Sri Lanka.
“Guru Abhiman 2009″ – The felicitation program for teachers
A special program was held on 6th October 2009 to felicitate the teachers of Bandaranayake College for the immense service they do for the students, school, as well as for the country for raising a salutary future generation. Event was taken place in the school grounds from 8.30 a.m to 10.30 a.m.
Dancing Troop in a tour of Paris, France

The organization of UNESCO had celebrated their 60th Anniversary by conducting a cultural festival on city of Paris in France. They had selected 14 students from Bandaranayake College to perform a dancing event in that ceremony.

Since 1996 to 2008, the school dancing troop had won the 1st place in every All-Island dancing competitions. During those 12 years, our troop was the champions in the field of dancing.
Hence by the co-ordination of Educational ministry: mainly Educational Minister Mr. Susil Premajayanth, Secretary Mr. M.M.N.D. Bandara and Director of Aestic Education Mr. Gunathilaka had given their fullest cooperation to this tour of France. We pay our great tribute to them and thank them for giving this opportunity. We would also like to thank our Principal Ven. Labuthale Sudassana Thero and all persons who gave their contribution in making this task successful.
